Bring the following with you to the tax preparation site:
W-2s and other wage statements you and your spouse received from all your employers for Tax Year 2010.
Social Security cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN) for yourself and everyone in the household that you support, including your spouse, and children, grandchildren, relatives and foster children.
The dates of birth for all people you are claiming as dependents.
Your driver?s license or other state issued photo ID card, and for spouse if applicable.
Last year?s tax return, if you have one, as well as any additional items (such as mortgage statements) that you think may impact your tax return, even if you are not sure.
If you received any 1099 forms for 2010, bring them. You may have 1099 forms if you received income from Social Security, Railroad Retirement, Unemployment, Interest, or Dividend Income.
If you paid for day care in 2010, bring your co-pay statement for Day Care for the year 2010, including the social security number or EIN of your day care provider, the Providers name, and the day care address.
If you received any advance child tax credit payment in 2010, bring in Notice 1319, showing proof of the amount received.
If you paid for higher education, such as college or a trade school, bring form 1098-T showing evidence of payment.
If you would like to get your refund by direct deposit or would like your refund split between more than on account, bring your financial institution names, account numbers and the 9-digit American Bankers Association (ABA) routing numbers if you have a checking account a blank check from your bank account, should be acceptable.
If any of the following apply to you, take documentation with you:
Adoption Expenses
Alimony paid or received
Any notices received from the IRS
Property Tax Bills
College Tuition and student loan interest statements (form 1098-T)
Additional forms of income such as: Prizes and awards, scholarships, lottery/gambling winnings.
If filing jointly, both filer and spouse must be present to sign.
If you lost or do not have all of these
items, you can still get your taxes prepared.
Call the IRS HelpLine at 1-800-829-1040 to find out what you need to do
to obtain replacement documents.
